The Bushnell H2O 132105R is a 12x25 folding roof prism binocular. It is nitrogen purged and carries an IPX7 rating, tested by submerging it at 1 meter for 30 minutes. The prisms are BaK-4 glass, and the twist-up eyecups adjust for the viewer. It weighs 300g and has a 262 ft field of view at 1,000 yards. It does not adapt to a tripod and has no locking diopter.
Our take
The IPX7 rating, tested by submerging the 12x25 body at 1 meter for 30 minutes, makes this a sealed binocular rather than one to keep dry. It does not adapt to a tripod and has no locking diopter, so expect to hold it by hand.
From our buying guide
Steiner calls 7x the marine standard. Higher magnification narrows the field of view and makes the image more sensitive to hand shake.
Check before you buy:
- The water rating comes with its depth and time, since ratings vary widely between makers.
- The maker says what floats, the body or only a strap, since some make no flotation claim at all.
- A stabilised pair has a water rating you're happy with, since not every one carries a waterproof rating.
