This is the Blue Sea Systems M-Series Dual Circuit Plus battery switch with a knob, in black. It is rated at 300 A continuous, intended for outboards and small diesel or gasoline engines, and its tin-plated copper studs take 3/8 in (M10) ring terminals. The case can be mounted on a surface, or on a rear or front panel, and an isolating cover protects the rear contacts. The switch is rated IP66 against powerful water jets.
Our take
The 300 A continuous rating sets what this switch is sized for: outboards and small engines. Its IP66 rating covers powerful water jets, and the case can go on a surface, rear or front panel.
From our buying guide
Perko says its selector switches can be switched between 1, ALL and 2 with the engine running, and that they let you put batteries in parallel for emergency starting. Battle Born advises against that connection with its LiFePO4 batteries.
Check before you buy:
- Its continuous and 5-minute ratings suit your system. Perko rates its medium-duty 8501 at 250 A continuous.
- It has an alternator field disconnect if you need one. Perko says its AFD models protect non-unitized alternators if the switch is turned OFF with the engine running.
- If it's going in a gasoline engine space, the maker lists it as ignition protected.
