This is the starboard side light from Attwood's Pulsar line, with a green lens and black housing. It mounts flat on the deck with two #10 fasteners, and the cover and lens hide those fasteners while sealing water out of the lamp and hull. It runs on 12 VDC through 7 inch wire leads and comes with a 9-Watt wedge base lamp. The light is rated for 1 nautical mile at 112.5 degrees of visibility and is meant for boats up to 39.4 feet (12 m). Stainless steel contacts resist corrosion, and a twist bayonet lock holds the lens and cover on the base.
Our take
A 1 NM rating over 112.5 degrees, sized for boats up to 39.4 feet (12 m), tells you this green sidelight is for a modest vessel. The stainless contacts will not corrode, and the sealed cover and lens keep water out of the lamp, which counts for a light bolted to the deck.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
