The HD2000 is Attwood's heavy-duty 12-volt bilge pump and the highest capacity pump in its range. It is rated at over 2000 GPH at open flow while drawing under 7 amps. The motor uses a ball-bearing design for cooler running and longer life, and a separate shaft and motor compartment cuts wear. The outer resin is made to resist engine oil, strong detergents and hose plasticizers. A 3 year warranty applies.
Our take
The pump is rated over 2000 GPH at open flow on under 7 amps, and its ball-bearing motor is built to run cooler and last longer. On a boat that reads as a high-capacity 12-volt pump whose current draw stays modest for the flow it claims.
From our buying guide
Rule and Johnson both say their bilge pumps are not intended for damage control. Flow falls as the discharge head rises, and the length of the hose, its bends and any check valve reduce it further.
Check before you buy:
- The maker's own table shows the flow at head, since how much a pump loses depends on the model.
- An automatic pump also has a manual switch, which ABYC's voluntary 2005 standard calls for.
- You'll fuse it to the maker's figure.
