This is a black 12 volt all-round light from Attwood that fastens straight to the deck with two #10 fasteners. It is rated for 1 nautical mile of visibility and for vessels up to 39.4 ft. It comes with an 8-watt wedge base lamp and 7 in leads for the 12 VDC supply. A twist, bayonet-style lock holds the lens and cover to the base. It mounts flush, so it can sit atop the tow piece on a ski or wakeboard tower.
Our take
A 1 nautical mile rating and a vessel limit of 39.4 ft mark this as a light for smaller craft, since the rating stops there. The flush base sits atop a tower's tow piece, and the bayonet lock on the lens keeps lamp changes simple.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
