Our take
The 28301-7 is a sealed-for-life, maintenance-free LED unit, and the series is offered with 316L stainless caps for corrosion resistance. The maker designed it for powerboats, so check it against your vessel type and port-side position before fitting.
From our buying guide
The lights a boat must show depend on its length and how it's being driven. A sailboat under power is a power-driven vessel and shows power-driven lights.
Check before you buy:
- The label gives its visibility in nautical miles, and that range meets the minimum for your boat's length.
- The maker rates it for boats of your length.
- A replacement LED is certified with the fixture it's going into, since the Coast Guard warns that replacement lighting may not meet the rules.
