Victron Lithium Battery Smart 12.8V 100Ah
- Brand:
- Victron Energy
- Part no:
- BAT512110610
Victron's 12.8 V, 100 Ah lithium iron phosphate battery. It needs one of Victron's external BMS units, and Victron says an external safety relay is mandatory. Victron recommends charging at 14.2 V with a 13.5 V float, only between 5°C and 50°C, and continuous discharge of 100 A or less (200 A maximum). Victron recommends a charger with a LiFePO4 profile or a custom profile adjustable to the battery, and says to disable temperature compensation. For alternator charging, Victron's manual lists four measures, among them a DC-DC charger and a BMS with a current-limited alternator port.
Our take
Buy this if you run a Victron-based house bank and already plan on a Victron-approved BMS and safety relay, because the maker rates it at 2500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge and 92% round-trip efficiency. Skip it if your charging source can't be current-limited, or if the bank sits below 5°C while charging. Budget for the BMS and relay, since the warranty is void without an approved BMS.
