The Simrad A2004 Autopilot Pack is a dedicated autopilot controller package for professional mariners. It contains the A2004 display, an AC70 course computer, an RF300 rudder feedback unit and a Precision 9 compass. It connects over certified NMEA 2000 and is listed for hydraulic steering. The A2004 has a wide-angle, zero-fog color LCD with a 170 degree viewing angle. Control is by a precision rotary dial and dedicated buttons for the steering modes, designed to work with wet or gloved hands. Simrad positions it for workboat, commercial fishing and passenger vessels that do not need SOLAS heading control systems. Single-thruster control is possible, but it needs an optional AD80 or SD80 interface module.

This suits a workboat, commercial fishing or passenger vessel with hydraulic steering, where you want controls you can work with gloves on. Budget for the hydraulic drive unit, which is not in the pack, and for an AD80 or SD80 if you want thruster control. Skip it where SOLAS heading control is required. Check boat size with the maker before you buy.
