The Raymarine Ray90 is a fixed-mount, black-box VHF radio with a 25 watt transmitter and Class D DSC. A wired handset and passive speaker are supplied, and the system can be expanded to two handsets. This bundle adds the AIS700, a Class B AIS transceiver with a built-in antenna splitter. Position tracking on the radio follows up to 5 nearby DSC vessels. GPS operation needs the optional GA150 antenna.
Our take
The Ray90's 25 watt transmitter sits in a black box out of sight, with the RayMic handset at the helm, and the AIS700 is a Class B transceiver. GPS for DSC position needs the optional GA150 antenna, which is not in the bundle, so plan on adding it.
