The Raymarine Ray90 is a fixed-mount, black box VHF radio, so the transceiver sits out of sight while a wired handset and passive speaker handle control. It has a 25-watt transmitter and Class D DSC, and it can take a second handset. A loudhailer and fog signal sounding are built in. GPS is not built in, so GPS operation needs the optional GA150 antenna. It networks over NMEA2000 and NMEA0183.
Our take
Without built-in GPS, the Ray90 needs the optional GA150 antenna for GPS operation, so plan for that in the install. Its 25-watt transmitter, hailer and fog signals sit in one black box with the handset and speaker included.
