Ocean Signal rescueME EPIRB3, Category II with AIS

Brand:
Ocean Signal
Part no:
702S-03932

Ocean Signal's Category II EPIRB with an AIS alert (SKU 702S-03932), supplied with a manual-release bracket that Ocean Signal says to mount inside the boat. It cannot switch on in the bracket; out of it, it activates in contact with water or by hand. GPS, Galileo and GLONASS, Return Link Service and a 121.5 MHz homer; 10-year battery replacement and over 48 hours at -20°C, at an authorised centre only. Check it is coded for the US.

Our take

Good for a skipper who will be aboard and able to grab it, and who wants AIS alert, Return Link confirmation and a phone check of battery and self-tests over NFC. Skip it if the boat could sink unattended, because this Category II is manually deployed and will not float free like a Category I. The battery is not user serviceable, and opening the lid voids the warranty.
