Johnson Pump Ultima Switch
- Brand:
- Johnson Pump
- Part no:
- 36303
A solid-state electronic bilge switch (Johnson 36303) that senses water through sealed field-effect cells, with no moving parts. Johnson says it turns on at 2 in, after a three-second delay that stops sloshing water starting the pump, and off at 3/4 in; it switches pumps drawing up to 20 A at 12 V, draws under 20 microamps on standby, and must never be mounted below the pump base. Water inside its electronics can make the pump run constantly, Johnson says, and the switch must then be replaced.
Our take
Choose this if you want a bilge switch with no moving parts to jam, either as a retrofit for a tired float switch or on a new 12V or 24V Johnson pump. A reviewer found its 2-inch trip point more consistent than mechanical floats. Skip it for pumps outside the Johnson submersible range, since fit is stated only for those. Mind the current: the maker rates 20 A at 12V but only 10 A at 24V.
