Garmin GMI 40 Wireless Wind Pack
- Brand:
- Garmin
- Part no:
- 010-03411-60
The gWind Wireless 2 masthead sensor bundled with a GMI 40 instrument display that receives its ANT signal, as Garmin part 010-03411-60. For the NMEA 2000 network, Garmin's pack also includes a 2 m backbone/drop cable, two T-connectors, a power cable and terminators. The sensor is rated for masts up to 50 ft, with a solar-charged battery Garmin says lasts three years.
Our take
A good fit for a sailboat with a mast under 50 feet where you want wind data on the NMEA 2000 or BlueNet network without a cable up the mast. The transducer talks over ANT and needs no interface box, and Garmin says the solar-charged battery lasts up to three years. Skip it for taller rigs, which fall outside the rated range. Its speed range tops out at 90 knots.
