Davis DockShockle Dock Line Snubber (2415)
- Brand:
- Davis Instruments
- Part no:
- 2415
A 12 in snubber that clips onto a dock line to absorb shock loads, which Davis designs for smaller, lighter boats up to 40 ft. Davis gives it 2,500 lb test webbing inside a 3,500 lb test sheath, with two 316 stainless carabiners and two Mini-LineGrabbers for braided or twisted line up to 3/4 in, and an ideal working slack of 3 to 6 in. Davis says to use Shockles in parallel with a strong line and never let one bear the full load alone.
Our take
Buy this if you have a boat up to 40 ft and want a simple way to soften dock-line snatch. The 2500 lb test inner webbing sits inside a 3500 lb sheath, with two 316 stainless carabiners. It stretches about 5 inches under 50 lb, and up to 7.5 inches before the load limiter engages. Skip it for anything bigger, or if your lines are thicker than 3/4 inch, because the Mini-LineGrabbers will not hold them.
